LOST There's No Place Like Home (part 1) aka: "John Locke: This is your life" by Peter SorensenIn the eleventh episode of Season Four, the face-off between the Losties and the mercenaries from the freighter ignites. Jack follows the sat phone into the jungle while Sayid rushes to get people off the island. In flashforwards we see the Oceanic Six return to civilization and begin to put their lives back together.
*loud booming voice* IT BEGINS! *end of booming voice*
The first of the three-part season finale is over now, and I want to run screaming through the hills because it will be two more weeks before Lost returns. Why, television gods, WHHHhhhhyyy!?!? On a related note, I plan to spend next Thursday wandering my neighborhood and smashing any television that has Grey's Anatomy on. Take that, poorly written hospital drama! That's what you get for messing with my Lost timeslot! |

This week the Secret Invasion goes international, crossing over into the UK with Captain Britain and MI-13 #1. Honestly, what's not to like about a superhero team consisting of a magical flying superhuman, a snarky British agent with blades of light, a vampiric superspeedy girl from WWII, and a Skrull that looks and talks exactly like John Lennon?
Then, in the first of the 3-part "Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four" miniseries, we see Marvel's first family begin their grudge match against the Skrulls (remember - Reed Richards turned the first Skrull invaders into cows back in the 60s), and for one of the team, it gets even more personal than that.

LOST Cabin Fever aka: "John Locke: This is your life" by Peter SorensenIn the eleventh episode of Season Four, Locke takes Hurley and Ben on a quick pit stop (literally) before finding Jacob's cabin. Keamy returns to the boat, sunny disposition intact, life aboard the freighter becomes increasingly perilous, and no one tells Locke what he can't... well, you know the rest.
Recovering from the emo-liciously bad episode last week took some doing, but man am I glad we had this episode to follow it up. It's an unwritten rule that any Hurley or Locke-centric episode is going to kick some cinematic ass, and this week did not disappoint.
Chock full of self-referential scenes and sneaky easter eggs-a-plenty, this week's episode also returned to the classic "flashback" formula, showing us the life and times of John B. Locke (the "B" stands for Buttercup). |

This week (ok, so the article is late - blame real life) the Secret Invasion continues in Secret Invasion #2, then crosses over into Mighty Avengers #13, which is still filling in the blanks from the end of the "Secret War" miniseries up to the present day Skrull invasion. Nick Fury knows the invasion is coming and is slowly putting together his plans to avert it, which involves the return of Daisy Johnson, super-powered ex-agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and part of the team that toppled the Latverian government in the pages of Secret War.
What can I say? I'm all for the return of any character that was based on Angelina Jolie in Hackers. Rrrrowr.

LOST Something Nice Back Home aka: "Charlie Brown Syndrome Attacks!" by Peter SorensenIn the tenth episode of Season Four, Jacks health is seriously comprimised, forcing Juliet and Kate to work together to save him. Something goes terribly wrong as Sawyer, Claire, Aaron and Miles make their trek back to the beach from Locke's camp. Also, Jack mopes. A lot.
It had to happen.
After being on the receiving end of a cyclonic 1-2-Vaughn/Goddard knock-out punch of an episode last week, I knew that there would be no possible way to follow that up and that I would undoubtedly leave this week's episode feeling let down and disappointed. Sufficed to say, I hate being right sometimes. |
