Yes, I know tonight is also the premiere of another big budget superhero movie, but let's not forget the icing on the cake. Tonight, airing before The Dark Knight, is the world premiere of the very first Watchmen theatrical trailer.
And what a trailer it is. Blasted by some for being too "300-ish", this is still exactly the kind of glimpse I was hoping for. As a lifelong fan of the graphic novel (and a fanboyishly rabid fan at that), I have waited in dread for final shots to start appearing. Thankfully, Zach Snyder has again come through for the comic fans out there and the footage from this trailer has totally assuaged any doubts I may have had about this film. |

Premiering exclusively on Yahoo, the new Hellboy II trailer is burning up the interwebs and has me (as my therapist puts it) in an "overly excited state bordering on rabid psychosis". In other words, I would kill, die, or maim to see this movie even a single minute before anyone else.
I was initially skeptical about the upcoming Hellboy picture, as it involves a completely new tale written specifically for the film by the director himself, Guillermo del Toro. Of course, that was before I saw Pan's Labyrinth, and before I saw this trailer. Now, I would literally walk miles over broken glass, barefoot and blistering in the hot Guadalajaran sun, to simply bask in the light of his countenance.

Today, Pixar released the first full length US trailer for their upcoming blockbuster Wall-E, the story of a lonely but loveable trash robot left behind on Earth to clean up the mess the humans left behind. The movie looks stunningly beautiful (which should go without saying for a Pixar movie) and judging by the trailer, it has the one thing that lifts Pixar movies above the other studios: a whole lotta heart.
The star of the movie, Wall-E is at once both cute and vulnerable, something generally uncommon in a science fiction movie. While his character design may remind people more of Johnny Five from Short Circuit, Wall-E seems to be channeling the personality of another soulful title character: 1982's "E.T."

Warner Brothers surprised fans everywhere today when they released not one, but TWO brand spankin' new international trailers for the upcoming live-action Speed Racer movie.
Helmed by the Wachowski Brothers (Wachowski Siblings, if you believe the internet rumors ) and shot using state-of-the-art digital technology to create a more cartoon-ish look, Speed Racer is one of the most highly anticipated films of the upcoming year.
The trailers have drawn mixed emotions from fans of the show and of the filmmakers, some showering praise on the new look and style, others saying that it looks like a "big fat steaming dump of a movie".
And while I may still be clinging on in the former group, this movie does have a growing "craptastic" feel to it. |
