Ugh. The title alone should give you a hint as to how bad the comic was this week.
The Heroes Graphic Novel hits an all-new low this week as they introduce Matt Nuenberg, who's special ability is that he's really, really smart. That's it. No laser beam eyes, or super speed, or diamond-hard skin... just really smart.
What really gets me is how incredibly original the issue is (sarcasm). Let's do the run-down, shall we?
Matt Neunberg:
is a high school student who doesn't fit in
feels alienated by his powers
is discovered by the Company
is betrayed by the Company.
Gee... how astoundingly creative. Someone send that writing staff a fruit basket. |

Ok, sing it with me, everyone: "Goooooooold fingah! (bwa-waaa-waaa)"
This weeks issue of the Heroes Graphic Novel takes us to far away Bhutan, where we learn a valuable lesson: don't mess with Company Bob. The issue involves the whereabouts of Richard Drucker, the focus of the Heroes: Evolution ARG, and quite frankly... I don't really care.
Maybe it's me. Maybe I just don't give a crap about all these marketing gimmicks disguised as fan-powered games. Maybe I just don't like storylines that compete with the main thread of the TV show. Maybe I'm just picky. Whatever the reasons, this issue falls completely flat for me, so it's only fitting that the issue begins with Richard Drucker and his pilot "Goose" (because all pilots are legally required by the FAA to choose handles from Top Gun) crash landing his plane in the mountains of Bhutan. |

I've been waiting for this issue for a long, long time.
Possibly important, definitely controversial, issue 66 of the Heroes Graphic Novel entitled "The Ten Brides of Takezo Kensei" is bound to set off an explosion of fan theories. Beyond that, it's one of the best issues of the series that I've ever had the pleasure to read. The art is superb, the story is well-written, and the payoff at the end makes the entirety of Season Two look like episodes of "Cop Rock" (bonus points if you even know what that is).
The issue begins with Takezo Kensei, still in his casket/prison, reminiscing about the many lives he's led and the many loves he's had over the last 400 years.
And it only gets weirder from there... |

Like the bad penny he is, Noah Bennett shows up yet again in this weeks Heroes Comic. This weeks issue takes place inbetween season 1 and 2 of the show, with Noah and his family still on the run from the Company, but not yet in California.
In the comic, Noah and his family sit down in a local diner for a nice, relaxing, "normal" meal together (complete with obligatory waffles reference). Unfortunately, as we all know, nothing in the Bennett family is ever "normal".
Noah overhears two local police officers talking about a recent murder scene involving two local thugs that were found gnarled and twisted, like Michael Jackson before he "puts his face on".
Wacky hijinks ensue. |

While the rest of the television world is in complete and utter turmoil, it's nice to see that some good can come out of the recent writers strike (other than Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy being off the air I mean).
ABC recently announced that due to the bleak, barren and otherwise desolate primetime schedule(my words, not theirs), the season premiere of Lost will be moved up to Thursday, January 31st in the 9pm time slot, where it will stay, presumably, until the WGA strike is over or until "vampiric mutants wander the post-apocalyptic earth" (again: my words, not theirs).
Along with the announcement, the internet has been abuzz with the release of the new Season Four promo trailer and we've managed to get our greasy little hands on it and do a little digging.
Warning: There Be Spoilers Here.
