LOST: The Return of Michael
Wednesday, 25 July 2007
image In a shocking (but somehow obvious) revelation, ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson told members of the Associated Press that Harold Perrineau, who plays the character "Michael" on the hit show Lost, will return to the show next season.

Last time we saw Michael, he was betraying his fellow survivors by turning them over to the Others in return for a way off the island for him and his paranormally creepy son, Walter.

After turning over Hurley, Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, Michael was given a boat and told to follow a precise heading off the island, sparking a wild fan-fueled debate over why you could only leave the island by that exact heading.

ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson didn't offer any details Wednesday of what's in store for Michael. He also didn't say whether Walt, the son played by Malcolm David Kelley, will be seen again.

The pair fled the mysterious island where the crash victims were struggling to survive against the dangerous "Others," with desperate Michael turning over his friends in exchange for escape.

The network had planned to make the "Lost" announcement at Comic-Con International, the comic book and pop-culture show starting Thursday in San Diego. But McPherson, speaking to a meeting of the Television Critics Association, was pressed for the information.

Fans of the show will be quick to point out that Michael's return isn't exactly a surprise, what with the shocktwist ending of last season revealing that the Losties eventually make it home, and with Locke communicating with a Walter-like apparition after being shot.

I guess it was only a matter of time. (insert crazy Lost fan theory about time travel and/or wormholes)
