Kindness of Strangers
aka: "Daddy Issues"
by Peter Sorensen

In the fourth episode of season 2, Maya and Alejandro pick up a familiar hitchhiker, and we meet Monica, a new hero with photographic reflexes (the ability to perfectly mimic any motion after seeing it). Mama Petrelli makes a shocking confession, Nathan finally shaves the ol' soupstrainer, Parkman finds out some interesting news about his family tree, and we all get just a little tired of people crying about their daddies.

First off, I want to say I friggin' called it. Nyah.

Glibness aside, this week was a "motivation" episode, meaning that although not much really happened, we learned a lot of new information and a chain of events has been set in motion that will fuel the action of the next set of episodes. The characters have all learned disturbing facts, tragedies have happened. Now, it's just a matter of starting their individual quests that will no doubt lead them back to each other in the end.

Last season we had Hiro's search for the sword, Peter's training, and Nathan's bid for power. This season it looks like we're in for Peter's search for his identity, Hiro's quest to make Kensei a hero, Bennett's search for the paintings, and Parkman and Nathan's search for the remaining Company members.

In the third episode of season 2, an enemy from the past returns (c'mon, don't make me spell it out here), Claire and West vie for their very own show on the CW, Peter does more impersonations than a bad YouTube video, and Hiro wonders how to tell people that due to the unfreezing process, he has no inner monologue.

My original episode review this week was tragically eaten by a server database problem, so instead of my usual verbosity, this week I'm going to rocket through the main points and try to limit my ranting to a bare minimum (which is still more than you'd expect).

To start off, ugh.

I don't know if they have been hiring writers out of the Dawson's Creek bullpen or if they've been farming their special effects work out to Indonesian slave children, but for whatever reason this week's episode left a really poor taste in my mouth.

Lizards
aka: "Worst episode title ever"
by Peter Sorensen

In the second episode of season 2, Hiro helps history along by playing a more active role in Takezo Kensei's life (literally), Mohinder helps out an old friend, Claire reenacts Reservoir Dogs with her pinky toe, and Peter Petrelli, well... Peter Petrelli makes up for lost time (and lost hair) by kicking large amounts of ass. There is also some taking of names afterwards.

Tonights episode of Heroes really showed off what parts of the show work, and what parts fall flat (I'm looking in your direction Maya and Alejandro).

This is where I would normally praise the show for it's infinite superhero goodness, but honestly I was a little let down by this weeks episode. Thankfully, by the end of the episode, it had totally redeemed itself.
