![]() Now we know how HRG became HRG. And not in some metaphorical sense, like "how he became the person he is today", but in the very literal sense: how HRG came to wear his signature horn-rimmed eyewear. In last seasons "Company Man", it was revealed that it was actually Claire who originally picked out said eyewear, and most had assumed it was just a sign of Noah Bennetts age, but this week we learn that there was something far more sinister behind Bennetts need for prescription glasses. It begins in a doctor's office, with Bennett flawlessly reading off the bottom line of an eyechart, much to Claire's surprise (and including the letters H, R, and G). When she asks him how it's possible he reveals that he actually has what his mother called "eagle eyes". That's right - Noah Bennett had perfect vision. ![]() There are far easier ways to get a tan. Now, you may think that Noah Bennett's blindness may be a result of an accidental glimpse of Hayden Panatierre's near perfect body, but I assure you that's not the case. The story continues on with Pre-HRG and the Haitian taking a mission to track down and take out Howard Grigsby, a man who's powers had manifested months before and had since gone on a religiously zealous killing spree. What's even odder is that the Company, who probably has telepathic and superpowered spys galore, had no information regarding Grigsby's powers, so Pre-HRG and the Haitian were literally "going in blind". Noah and the Haitian arrive at a plantation in Georgia, where Howard is holding an entire family hostage and "preaching" to them. Noah and the Haitian split up and Noah makes his way around back in near-darkness, navigating the terrain by eyesight alone. ![]() It's hard to shoot straight when you have the munchies. His eyes burning, Bennett takes out his gun and aims at the chandelier above their heads. Eyes red and searing, he slowly aims and hits his target, bringing it crashing down on Grigsby. Bennett wakes up in an infirmary, among "friends". Gauze is removed from his eyes and Noah faces the result: his eyesight is permanently ruined. Grigsby is locked up in a Company cell, and Noah returns home where Claire helps him pick out his new glasses, and in turn his signature look. Just be glad Claire didn't decide to pick out hot pink gigantic diamond-studded Elton John frames. Do you see what they're doing, though? Last week we get an issue where Linderman faces down a woman who can steal powers and is being guided by another mysterious woman who we never see. This week, HRG has a run-in with a psychotic killer with delusions of grandeur, who is locked up in a Company cell. For anyone who's seen the preview footage for Heroes, Volume 3: Villains where there is a massive breakout, you can probably guess where this is headed. Are we going to be meeting Grigsby in Season Three? Is the woman who gave Linda the information on Linderman last issue Adam's "new wife"? In the preview (which you can see here ) HRG likens the escapees to "twelve Sylars running free". Who are the twelve villains, and will we be meeting more in the upcoming issues? Twelve very dangerous and very powerful people on the loose, and Peter and Hiro back to their badass selves? Volume Three is starting to look very, very cool. You can download the PDF of this issue from the main Heroes site (www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels ) or read it online with their flash viewer HERE . Personally, I don't like either and prefer to read it in .cbr format using a freeware program called CDisplay (downloadable here ).
