| Diablo 3 finally announced? |

Diablo fans everywhere, start rejoicing. After years of speculation, after years of shady comments and subtle innuendo, it finally seems that Blizzard is gearing up for something big... something highly anticipated... something we've all been waiting for.Or, they're just screwing with us again. When reached for comment by the guys over at diablo3.com, Blizzard Entertainment had this to say:
So, there you have it. There's something new on the horizon and it isn't a Starcraft game. Fans everywhere are taking this to mean that at long last their dreams are coming true: Diablo III is coming. Let's look at the facts: Blizzard Entertainment recently registered the following domain names: http://www.diablo3.de/ http://www.diablo3.fr/ http://www.diablo3.es/ http://www.diablo3.com.au/ But as you can see, www.diablo3.com was not registered. Maybe it's because it's owned by someone else, maybe it's because they don't want to tip their hand yet. As someone who is constantly browsing the employment section of blizzard.com, I first began suspecting that they were working on a new Diablo game when many of the new jobs were for positions on a project "from the creators of Diablo I and II". This is at a time when their main seller was World of Warcraft, and not once was it mentioned. Not to mention a little sly innuendo from writer Richard Knaak, author of "Diablo: The Sin War: Book One: Birthright" (which could only have a lamer title if they slapped on ":The series: Episode One: Chapter Seven: The Demon Chronicles: Darkness Begins: Omega Force"):
Does this mean the rumors are true? Was former Blizzard employee Chris Hartgraves' vision of a Diablo game located in a heaven taken over by the darkness of hell correct after all? Will the fans finally get what they've been fiending for? No, probably not. Because as we all know, Blizzard are some crafty @%$ers, and they are probably just going to announce a new T-Shirt design or novel or Trading Card expansion. Rumors of Diablo 3 have run rampant for years now and they have yet to bear fruit. Honestly, I highly doubt we will ever see this game. ...but that doesn't mean I won't try to make it to Blizzcon this year just in case. :) Peter Sorensen is a part time columnist and full time gaming nerd.
